Region 9 of the Social Security Administration includes the following: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, and Guam & Saipan. The region also includes 162 Field offices, 20 Offices of Disability Adjudication & Review, 17 Offices of Disability Determination Services, and 6 Tele-service Offices. Within Region 9, there are a little over 1,090,000 individuals who receive SSDI and approximately 1,490,000 individuals receive SSI. Overall, around 5.7% of the population in the region is considered disabled by the SSA’s standards and the SSA gave out on average about 2.11 billion dollars in benefits per month in 2013.
