Social Security Region 1: Boston

Region 1 of the Social Security Administration includes the following: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The region also includes 67 Field offices, 9 Offices of Disability Adjudication & Review, 7 Offices of Disability Determination Services, and 1 Workload Support Unit. Within Region 1, there are a little over 510,000 individuals who receive SSDI and approximately 350,000 individuals receive SSI. Overall, around 8.2% of the population in the region is considered disabled by the SSA’s standards and the SSA gave out on average about 743 million dollars in benefits per month in 2013.
