If you wish to file a claim with the Social Security Administration (SSA) for disability benefits in Montana, you have three options. You can show up to your local Social Security office and speak with a social security officer, you can call the SSA's customer support and file over the phone, or you can apply by yourself by filling out the online application on the SSA's website.

Compared to the national average, Montana has a considerably higher number of cases dismissed. A case is dismissed whenever an applicant doesn't show up to court on the day of the scheduled hearing, when an applicant misses a doctors appointment scheduled by the SSA, or when an applicant decides to no longer go through with the application process. Montana only has a single office to hold hearings in as well as 10 administrative law judges (ALJs) to attend the hearings.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services

The Vocational Rehabilitation Services of Montana provides employment services to disabled individuals to help them obtain and maintain employment. Services include programs such as job placement assistance and work training that are based on the individual’s needs and disabilities. To receive these services, one must apply at their closest VR office to confirm they are truly disabled and need assistance.
